I've been lollygagging

Main Entry: lollygag

Do you love that word? Lollygag.  A word not used often anymore. (Another word missing from our daily language these days -- "whippersnapper" -- but that's another post completely.) I've been L.A.Z.Y. lately - hanging about, loitering, procrastinating, putting off, wasting time, and tarrying.

I'm not normally a lazy person, so I needed to take a look at what's been going on and why... and come up with a solution.

I realized that for the first time in my life, I've not been getting dressed before coming downstairs in the morning. I always get up a half hour before my husband, and I used to get up, take a shower, and get dressed, then come downstairs and start my day. But for the past three or four months, unless it's a day Mr. B is arriving at 7:30, I've been getting up a bit later and coming downstairs in my bathrobe.

Bathrobes are made either for putting on after having a bath, or for lallygagging. You can't be productive in a bathrobe. At least, I can't.

My bathrobe is blue, floor length, and a warm, cuddly thick chenille. Just putting it on relaxes me, hugs me, makes me want to put my feet up or sit in a comfortable chair, accompanied by a cup of tea and a good book. It does not, however, invite me to grab a load of laundry or vac stairs or wash floors. It says "Ahhh, yes - let's relax" where as slacks, a sweater and shoes and socks say "Yes! Let's Go! We're outta here!". See the difference?

So sadly, I made the decision that my bathrobe and I will succumb to lollygagging only on Sunday mornings. No more lollygagging for me.
