Turnabout if fair play

The end of 2 of 7 weeks of babysitting, and here I am, still alive -- tired a bit more than normal, but still here, still functioning, still having fun with Mr. B. He's upstairs right now watching Umpa shave, so I thought I'd do some quick blogging. Mr. B has a habit of asking questions that he already knows the answer to. Such as, "Is your car red, Umma?" "Is Umpa's car white?" "Is Joey a Cat?" etc. Since the level of non-stop conversation around here sometimes makes my brain ache, I've been trying to work with him on this habit, and I will nicely say, "You're asking me a question you already know the answer to." We've also been learning names of vegetables and taste-testing them (in my continued effort to get him to eat better). We taste-tested tomatoes, green peppers, red peppers, lettuce, carrots, celery and cucumbers one day, and the next day I got out the same vegetables to make a salad out of the ones he liked when he taste-tested them. When we got to the celery, I said, "What vegetable is this?" to which he replied, "Umma, you're asking me a question you already know the answer to." Turnabout is fair play, I guess.

And they are so smart!

My DGS was cautiously watching from our kitchen window into the back yard area one late evening, as his grandpa and daddy were chasing a family of raccons out of the greenhouse. He says to me, "If Grandpa would keep the door closed, they wouldn't get in there." How smart and logical......

Your comment about non-stop conversation reminded me of something a co-worker said after he and his wife adopted their first child, a 4 year old girl. He married late and came into the fatherhood gig without much experience so he didn't know what to expect. When I asked how Alicia was doing he just shook his head and said "She never stops talking!"

Hang in there, Umma!

okay Joanie... this one made me LOL... that Mr.B is a character isn't he... and grandma has taught him a lot this summer! I love the idea of taste testing the vegs one day and eating them in a salad the next day... what a great idea... which I plan to steal from you at my first opportunity! ;)
