A GiveAway! Say NO to naked cupcakes!

There are those gifted people who can decorate a cake or cupcake so it has the appearance of a work of art in frosting. Then there are those of us who are frosting challenged.  Personally, I'm lucky to be able to dig a wad of frosting out of a can and slather up the cupcake and SOMETIMES have it look presentable though it usually looks slightly embarrassing. That's usually the best I can ask for.

Until now.

Just look at my "fancy" cupcakes! All dressed up in their fancy pants. A plain ol' vanilla cupcake dressed up as if it's going to a Valentine's Day party! They're not just plain ol' cupcakes now!

These cupcake wraps are called "Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves" and come in a package of twelve. The package says, "The fun and easy way to dress up a cupcake" - and it's correct! There's finally a way to make a cupcake look good enough for a party, for those of us who don't know an pastry bag tip from a Q-tip!

In the photo above, you can see a rectangular shaped little cake. I often make these in place of cupcakes, as they are more like a small serving of a cake, rather than the two-bite cupcake. I put two Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves together to "dress" that little cake. It didn't want to be the only one at the party without fancy party clothes!

And the best news? These "Roundabouts" come in over 70 - count'em, SEVENTY - designs! If you're having a party or a shower, or just want to make cupcakes special occasion for your family, Roundabouts are the solution for every event. They are so easy to use - just remove a strip that covers the adhesive, wrap the Roundabout around your cupcake, and gently press one end over the other and there you have it - a fancy wrap for your previously naked cupcake!

Enter my GiveAway for your own set of Roundabout Cupcake Sleeves!

Ooooo... look what I won!

I absolutely love giveaways, but when it's a FABRIC giveaway, I just cross my fingers a little harder when I'm filling out the entry and hope hope hope I win. My almost 9 month long fabric fast has been tough (necessary, but tough), so you can imagine how happy happy happy I was today when this package arrived from the Happy Cottage Quilter!

I wish you could FEEL this fabric! It's flannel and so very soft. And Jacelyn was very generous to include matching goodies - buttons and ric rac - plus a very sweet pin cushion!

Stop over and check out The Happy Cottage Quilter blog -- she has frequent giveaways (in fact, she has one going on today!), but it's just an inspiring blog overall.

Thank you, Jacelyn. You really made my day! Now... what shall I create with all this luscious fabric?!?

The GiveAway I *really* want to win!

Etsy is one of my favorite web sites these days -- whether I'm over there clicking to find unique fabric (Japanese fabric has become one of my new favorites) or to find unique Christmas gifts or, heck, just for inspiration or to wile away some time... Etsy has everything. What do you collect? You'll find it on Etsy! Have someone on your shopping list that already has one of everything? You'll find something unique for them on Etsy. Trust me on this one - Etsy is an amazing way to shop from unique artists and find unique products.

So.... when I found this Etsy giveaway, I knew I had to do everything possible to win it. In fact, just writing this blog article about the giveaway makes me eligible for five more entries. Ooooohhhh... I really want to win this one.

The GiveAway is called the 2010 Holiday Gift Guide & GiveAway. The prize is an enormous and varied assortment of gifts from Etsy - and I love every single one of them. From a "Chunky Monkey Flap Hat" to an "Elephant Sewing Kit". From the "Custom Alphabet Print" to the "Modern Bird Dessert Pedestal" - I just love them all. Value of the prizes - $470!!!!

You can enter the giveaway yourself by clicking here and following instructions. Good luck to me!
